PRN17: A CHALLENGING PATH FOR PENINSULAR MALAYSIAN BASED PARTIES

Based on a political landscape analysis spanning from 2020 to 2023, it has become increasingly evident that grassroots citizens are recognizing the importance of returning political power to local parties.

The continuous successes achieved by GPS, both in terms of development and power acquisition, through their bigger Bargaining Power based on MA63 agreement, have awakened the people of Sabah to the fact that, regardless of the shortcomings of local parties, they are still a preferable choice compared to parties imported from Peninsular Malaysia.

This sentiment was previously experienced during the rule of BERJAYA and PBS,.

The rejection of parties imported from Peninsular Malaysia has begun to take hold. This time around, it appears that the people of Sabah will focus solely on local party competition and outrightly reject parties originating from Peninsular Malaysia.

Only parties like GRS and Warisan are likely to garner attention, given the awareness that these parties possess a degree of autonomy. If new local parties emerge, they may find it exceedingly difficult to gain traction, as Sabah has had ample experience with manipulation by Peninsular Malaysian proxy parties.

The urban Chinese community, which predominantly supported DAP in the last two elections, is gradually realizing that strengthening local parties like SUPP in Sarawak would be more beneficial. This shift is driven by the understanding that DAP representatives cannot bring about economic development due to their status as proxies, which has hindered progress in terms of infrastructure and the economy for the Chinese community in Sabah. Furthermore, some DAP representatives appear to prioritize personal gains over public service.

Their tactics have become transparent. Techniques like publicizing activities and engaging in social media chatter to project a knowledgeable image have become evident over time. Additionally, there are representatives who overshadow the Chief Minister by taking credit for the successes of Sabah, despite others having played a pivotal role in initiating and realizing those achievements.

These are among the factors that will make it challenging for them to retain their seats in the Sabah State Legislative Assembly.

If we weigh their eloquence in speech against their actual accomplishments, it becomes apparent that a new choice can be made with greater discernment.

By the Way, The formula for the people of Sabah to make their choice is actually quite straightforward. Simply choose one of the local parties in Sabah. Set aside the imported parties. Done!
